Stories of Yogaranya: Shyamala Srivatsan
We are at a very difficult time now with the pandemic doing the rounds, looks like we are sort of getting used to it sometimes.
It's neither a holiday nor that we are too busy with work, but it's a dumb and boring phase of life that all of us are experiencing. A lot of lazing around happens to all of us, watching a Netflix movie or some tv serial after eating your favorite food or sometimes snacking around while watching TV. A fear of falling prey to the virus is also making us mentally weak. All these are very dangerous signs of poor physical and mental health.

I decided I need to follow some exercise routine that would suit me and my pocket. What more than yoga for physical and mental wellbeing? And what more than Yoga with Ramya @ Yogaranya? My daughter was all praise for this petite looking yoga teacher's classes. That's how I got my intro to Ramya.

I have been into this for the last 5 months. Initially had a lot of hiccups. I had pain on my knees, ankles and wrists. After class I would be exhausted. I would go sit on the dinning table and wait for my husband to bring my tea. But as I completed 1 month, I was not at all tired after yoga. I had the stamina to do more physical work. Due to the pandemic we all do a lot of daily cores that we usually get our domestic helpers to do. I am not cribbing to do them now. I have also lost 4 kg, but that was not at all my intention. That's a bonus bumper prize. I just wanted to keep myself fit, be able to sit on the floor, get up easily and feel good and not complain of physical pain.

Ramya my teacher, has helped me do all of these.
I find a good difference in my energy levels too. I am so impressed that I recommend these classes to all my friends now. Yoga is the only set of exercises that help you improve your physical and mental health. It increases your body awareness, relieves stress, reduces muscle tension, strain, and inflammation, sharpens attention and concentration, and calms the nervous system. All these benefits every day for an hour promised to me in the comfort of my home. What more can I ask?

It's been a wonderful journey with Ramya.
She is to the point, gives very clear instructions, ever ready to address all our doubts, and always setting an example on punctuality by being on time always.
I am not a very flexible person and I am also paranoid about doing some postures, due to my age. But Ramya has been very encouraging and keeps you challenged without pushing you too much. She has mastered this balance very well. She is ever ready to clarify any doubts regarding the asanas and pranayamams. She talks clearly about the benefits of these in between her sweet smiles. I am very happy that I am part of this "no-nonsense" yoga group. Revive, as it is rightly named, makes me feel very happy and content after the class and throughout the day. Roots is the name of my other class, which gives you the right foundation for the course of yoga abyasam.
